I was asked to forward the following on to all of you.

Hello,
I would like to let you know about the Linux Awareness Project I have setup
as there may be some members of your society that are interested in
volunteering. The project homepage is here:
http://www.randomkeystrokes.com/lap/
The aim of the project is to increase the awareness of the Linux operating
system at the secondary school level as well as to introduce students to
computing at third level. Which is probably very different to what they
expect it to be. Emphasis will be placed on groups of students who otherwise
would not have considered or have been able to consider computing. All that
we ask from the school is that our travel expenses be paid (eg. a return taxi
fare). It will not cost the school more than this. However, we will be on the
look out for sponsorship as well.
Starting this term (Sept 2003), the project will be piloted on two
schools in Limerick city. The linux lessons will be on Saturdays (or if we get
enough volunteers, people can choose a day themselves). We are looking for
people who can give an hour or two any Saturday or even more than one
Saturday this comming term.
Thank you very much for your time.
Best Regards,
Pamela O'Shea
