To Whom it May Concern,

You are cordially invited to attend a function hosted by the University
of Limerick Computer Society being held on Friday, the 25th of February.
The talks on the evening in question start at 19:00 and take place in
the University of Limerick Concert Hall in room FG-042. The programme
for the evening is as follows;

19:00         Opening Address given by President of the Society
19:10         "David and Goliath: Protecting the Corporate Inbox" given
by Michele Neylon
19:55         Break for Tea, Coffee & Snacks.
20:20         "Designing an Authentication System"
21:00         Closing Address.

Abstracts of the lectures and short biographies of our speakers are
given below to read at your leisure. If you are interested in attending
please feel free to email me and I confirm a seat for you at the talks.
However, all are welcome to attend. Please feel free to pass on this

Lecture Abstracts and Lecturer Biographies:

"David and Goliath: Protecting the Corporate Inbox" Michele Neylon.

Abstract: Overview of spam and virus issues facing Irish business. Case
studies to include Trocaire /PC Pro/Lutrellstown (tbc). Discussion of
methodologies, positive versus negative.


Mr Michele Neylon, U.L. graduate is MD of Blacknight Internet Solutions
Ltd., which is a 100% Irish owned company specialising in serving the
hosting and co-location needs of business, both large and small. The
company has a philosophy of providing innovative high quality technical
solutions to business and was the first Irish company in its sector to
introduce email filtering for its clients.

"Designing an Authentication System" Stephen Shirley

Abstract: This talk is going to take a look at the How and the Why of
the Kerberos authentication system, starting with the reasons for it's
invention, and working through the reasons for it's design.

Mr. Stephen Shirley is a long time Skynet member, U.L. graduate, and
escapee from the world of real jobs. Currently doing a Masters in
Computer Science with the Interaction Design Centre here in the
University of Limerick, also harbours a secret desire to be a full-time
unix sysadmin. His keywords are ssl, utf-8 and security.
