Ever interesting in doing admin work on a live linux cluster? Want to
increase your skillset and become more employable?
Skynet is looking for people interested in doing any admin work. Each
interested person will be given a mentor who is a current skynet admin
to lead them through our setup and teach them the basics of the area
that interests them.
The work does require a good deal of knowledge about GNU/Linux, Solaris
and the different services we run, but all this knowledge can be
learned. Anyone who decides they'd like to help out can also depend on a
wealth of knowledge and help where necessary (even if it's just RTFM!)
from the current skynet admins.
There are advantages to getting involved - since you will have
experience on a real world system, you are of great advantage to an
employer. Many of our former admins have got excellent jobs due, at
least in part, to their experience in Skynet. Companies include IBM,
Symbian, Sun and Treyarch (they just released a new Spiderman game to
rave reviews).
If you'd like to take part in the maintainance of the network, send an
email to alladmins at skynet.ie stating your interest. Someone will get
back in touch with you about it.
