When: Thursday 10th December 2009 at 1.30pm

Where: The Church of the Holy Family, Southill, Limerick

Since September the Irish Chamber Orchestra has been working with pupils
and staff of Galvone National School, teaching the violin as well as
developing their skills in singing and composition. The school now has
a bank of its own violins providing an instrument library accessible
soon to all students. 20 members of staff, including the school
caretaker are currently attending morning-music boot camp learning the
violin, taking 8am lessons three times a week before class. These 20
budding violinists will perform alongside the Irish Chamber Orchestra
and pupils from 6th class Galvone who are already being put through
their paces on violin. This year, the ICO has expanded the project into
two additional regeneration schools, Southill Junior School and St
Mary's Boys School supported by Limerick Regeneration who are starting a
similar cycle. For the first time, all 170 children involved are
busily preparing for this new and challenging public performance with
the Irish Chamber Orchestra. The staff and pupils will perform music and
songs they have composed together with the Irish Chamber Orchestra for
an audience of friends and family on Thursday 10 December@ 1.30pm.
