Individuals and Structure:
Analysing Academic Performance and Grading Standards Using Student
Records System Data

What are the determinants of student performance? How can we assess
academic achievement consistently across a wide range of disciplines?
What light can the Student Academic Administration databases throw on
these questions?

This project uses extensive data on grading across the university and
assesses the influence of individual factors such as age, gender, and
Leaving Cert performance, and structural factors such as academic
discipline, year of programme, class size and average class ability, and
departmental gender segregation.
