Liam Prendergast, Dell, will give a talk on 
     "Mobile Broadband, GPS and 4G" 
on Thursday 12th Nov 2009, 11:00-12:00, in room B2-005.
The presentation is aimed to give an understanding of the technology
direction of Mobile Broadband  (MBB) towards 4G, and overview a demo of
GPS using the Spirent GPS simulator, a brief overview of A-GPS and how
WiMAX is likely to perform relative to the MBB roadmap.
Liam Prendergast is Dell's Senior Mobile Broadband (MBB) Development
Engineer, based in Dell Limerick. Liam works in the Comms Wireless
Development team that is part of Latitude Engineering Product
Development Group that is HQ'ed in Austin, Texas. Liam has over 9 years
experience in product development at Dell Limerick and in the past 5
years has focussed on MBB. Liam Prendergast graduated with a B.Eng
Electronic Engineering from University of Limerick, he joined Dell in
1995 and in that time he has held many technical engineering positions

As the Lead Engineer for MBB technology, Liam leads the Engineering team
that develops the HSPA solutions that is sold with all Dell Latitude and
Precision Business Client platforms e.g. Dell Wireless 5530 and more
recently Dell Wireless 5540 from Ericsson. Liam's responsibilities
require him to understand the MBB trends looking ahead over three years,
help define Dell's MBB strategy over that time and how our technology
selection aligns with the Dell platform portfolio.
