Transport Policy in Ireland

 

 

James Nix, Co-ordinator for Transport and Planning Policy, Irish

James Nix is Co-ordinator for Transport and Planning Policy at the Irish
Environmental Network (www.ien.ie).

The Irish Environmental Network works on behalf of 32 environmental NGOs
- from An Taisce to Friends of the Irish Environment to Zero Waste

James has worked previously for the property development company
Treasury Holdings and is co-author of Chaos at the Crossroads (2005)
with Frank McDonald. He holds a Masters in Transport and Planning, Real
Estate Development and is a Barrister-at-Law.

 

On Friday James will introduce his lecture with a brief word on the
implications of the last two years for planning and transport in
Ireland. He will then discuss Ireland's planning system in detail and
the likely impacts if current development patterns persist. Trends in
transport will also be analysed. Both the planning and transport topics
will be discussed against the backdrop of climate change, and whether
Irish policy is capable of delivering emissions reductions as it
currently stands.
