"Ireland's Economic Crisis: Implications for the Labour Market"

 

Dr. Alan Ahearne

Special Advisor to Brian Lenihan T.D., Minister for Finance 

(J.E. Cairnes School of Business and Economics, National University of
Ireland, Galway).

 

Dr Alan Ahearne is former Senior Economist in the International Finance
Division of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System in
Washington, D.C. During his seven years at the Federal Reserve Board,
his duties included preparing notes for and presenting briefings to
Chairman Alan Greenspan and other Board members. He was also the
principal economist at the Board covering the Japanese and Chinese
economies.  Dr. Ahearne has taught economics at Carnegie Mellon
University, University College Dublin, Dublin City University, and the
University of Limerick.

A number of Best Student awards will also be made on the night including
the John Lovett Memorial Prize for best student on the BBS (Personnel
Management) and the Dermot Foley Memorial Prize for best student on the
BA (HRM).

The Annual John Lovett Memorial Lecture Series is jointly organised by
the Department of Personnel & Employment Relations, Kemmy Business
School, and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD)
in Ireland. The Series was established in 1993 in memory of John Lovett,
former chairman of the CIPD in Ireland (then Institute of Personnel
Management) and Personnel Director.
