SPEAKER

Juliet Mitchell PhD is a full member of the British and the International Psychoanalytical Societies. She is Director of the Expanded Doctoral School in Psychoanalytic Studies at University College London's Psychoanalysis Unit. She is Founder Director of the Centre of Gender Studies at the University of Cambridge, a Research Fellow in the Department of Human Geography, University of Cambrige and Fellow Emeritus of Jesus College, University of Cambridge. She is the author of Siblings: Sex and Violence (Polity 2003); Mad Med and Medusas: Reclaiming Hysteria (Penguin and Basic Books 2000); Psychoanalysis and Feminism: A Radical Reassessment of Freudian Psychoanalysis (Allen Lane 1974); and Women: The Longest Revolution: Essays on Feminism, Literature and Psychoanalysis (Virago and Pantheon Books 1974). She is the editor of The Selected Melanie Klein (The Free Press 1987); (with Michael Parsons) Before I Was: Psychoanalysis and the Imagination (papers by Enid Balint; Free Association Books and Guilford Press 1992); (with Jacqueline Rose) Feminine Sexuality: Jacques Lacan and the 'Ecole Freudienne' (W.W. RECOMMENDED READING

Delegates should familiarise themselves with Sigmund Freud's commentary on the Schreber case. Juliet Mitchell has also recommended three of her articles which will be sent to delegates upon registration.

This seminar is divided into two parts: part 1 is theoretical and is open to anyone who would like to attend while part 2 is clinical and is open only to clinicians and clinical trainees.

The registration fee for part 1 (9.15 am-1 pm) is EUR40 or EUR20 clinical trainees/students. Cheques, postal orders or bank drafts should be made payable to 'The Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy' and posted to Ann Daly, 'Juliet Mitchell Seminar', The Irish Forum for Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy, 73 Quinn's Road, Shankill, County Dublin. Pre-registration is necessary and payment of the registration fee secures a place at the seminar. Include your name and email address as receipt of the registration fee will be confirmed by email. Please note: there are a limited number of places available so early registration is advised.
