As part of the Strategic Innovation Fund the UL Environmental Committee in conjunction with The Incubation Centre are making a seed fund of €20k available to faculty interested in integrating sustainability into their taught modules or courses.

The maximum grant available will be €1.5k to those interested in increasing student’s exposure to the objectives of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD). It is expected that typical applications might include, but are not limited to, requests for funding for invited speakers or workshops, field trips, conference attendance or other professional development activities. It is vital that applications will clearly demonstrate the impact of the proposed measure on taught programmes and should include the details of the targeted modules, student numbers and whether changes are envisaged to the module syllabus or learning outcomes. Successful applicants will be required to provide a report detailing the outcomes of the measure.

Background information:

The years 2005 to 2014 have been designated the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development. ESD aims to help people to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge to make informed decisions for the benefit of themselves and others, now and in the future, and to act upon these decisions.
