1 National Music Day Lunchtime Singalong, Friday 16 April

To mark National Music Day next Friday 16 April, AOIC is organising a Lunchtime Singalong in the Atrium, University Concert Hall, Foundation   Building , University of Limerick . Join a choir - just for one lunchtime ! Led by musical director Liz Powell, this enjoyable session gives a taste of what it's like to be in a choir. Sing some fun music, learn some vocal techniques and celebrate National Music Day. Open to all - no experience necessary.

Presented by the Association of Irish Choirs and University Concert Hall.

 

2 Conductors Masterclass with Brady Allred, Sunday 2 May

The Association of Irish Choirs, in conjunction with Cork International Choral Festival will present a Masterclass for Conductors with Brady Allred, on 2nd May 2010 in Cork CIT School of Music. Running from 10am – 1pm, the masterclass will be open to established conductors wishing to improve their skills and techniques, working at a high level under the guidance of this highly regarded conductor and teacher and working with highly regarded Irish choir, Tribal Chamber choir from Galway . Each conductor will be expected to have prepared music in advance and will be allowed at least 40 minutes’ stand time.

Conductors interested in active participation in the masterclass should write a letter of application, stating why they feel they should be offered a place at the masterclass, and what the experience would mean to their career, along with a cv of their conducting history to date, including any training received.

This masterclass is offered in association with Cork CIT School of Music.

3 Auditions for IYC/NCC Conductor in Training

Auditions for the joint Irish Youth Choir/National Chamber Choir Conductor in Training will take place on Monday 26 April in Dublin . This competitive mentoring opportunity is open to musicians in the early stages of their conducting careers who have had some experience of conducting choirs and of training in conducting. Candidates should be aged 35 or under on 4th July 2010. The successful applicant will be expected to sing with the Irish Youth Choir during the rehearsal week and concerts from 26th June – 4th July 2010. The Conductor In Training will work with IYC's Artistic Director, Greg Beardsell, and sectional tutors and will have an opportunity to conduct the Irish Youth Choir in rehearsal. Full board will be provided for the duration of the residential rehearsal course in Limerick and concerts in Bantry, Wexford and Dublin .
