Before the earthquake, Haiti was already the poorest country in the
Western hemisphere despite being only 710 miles away from Miami. So why
was Haiti so poor?

UL Development Society invites you to a talk exploring this and other
issues. Speakers from Concern Worldwide and Christian Aid will present a
picture of life on the ground and explain how debt is crippling Haiti.
Dr. Luke Ashworth, University of Limerick, will present on the history
of poverty in Haiti.

The event is free; donations on the door go to the Gena Heraty Appeal.

Wed 10th Feb, 6.30pm, Jean Monnet DG010
