'Taming the Dragons: Experiences from the Enterprise Development module'

Dr Naomi Birdthistle

Wednesday 24th at 11.00 in MC2005

This presentation examines a module called Enterprise Development which
is taught to interdisciplinary students. The focus of the module is to
teach students about the business planning process. The module involved
the students forming into groups; developing a business idea; conduct an
elevator pitch, and write a business plan. At the end of the semester
the students presented their business plan to a panel of Dragons and an
exhibition to the public. The presentation will identify how the
lecturer formed relationships with members of the internal and external
community to help the students formulate their business idea and develop
their business plan. The presentation will explain how the lecturer
tapped into an internal source of funding that was of benefit to the
students. Finally, the presenter will explain how the students reflected
on their learning.

All welcome!
