"A bit of nice art will cheer you up, you'll be grand." - Or not?

Intervention, not Therapy - Art, Architecture and mental Well-being

Third-year students from the LSAD Sculpture & Combined Media Department
and the SAUL Architecture programme are mounting an exhibition of their
collaborative work. Their projects address issues related to mental
well-being and take the Shannon Rowing Club building as their specific
location. 

The exhibition is complemented by a seminar on the impact of art and
architecture on our mental well-being. Distinguished guests have been
invited to the podium. They will respond to our notion of intervention
through art and architecture and address the topic of mental well-being
from their respective point of view.

Sally Anne McFadden - Artist, activist

Jane Edwards - Professor for Music Therapy, UL

Eileen Humphreys - Sociologist

Mannix Flynn - Artist, writer, Dublin City Councillor

Tom Shortt - Art and design teacher, Limerick City Councillor

This Thursday, a tour of the student work starts at 2 pm, to be followed
by the series of brief talks from 3 pm. Allowing for discussion and
informal review of the student work the event will finish around 6 pm.
The venue is, of course, the Shannon Rowing Club on Sarsfield Bridge.

The exhibition and seminar are open to the public - all welcome.
