[Events] Family Fun Day Fundraising Event - "Be Aware! Prevent Suicide"

Hi all!
 
The new charity group "Be Aware! Prevent Suicide" would like to invite you all to their Family Fund Day fundraising 
event to be held in Darby O'Gills hotel, Killarney on June 6th from 3pm. The days events will include:
 
- Head Shaving (including 3 women, myself and up to 50 more people)
- Body Waxing & Beard Growing\Shaving
- Variety of DJs
- Kids Disco
- Face Painting
- Puppet Show\Magician (To be confirmed)
- Variety of Music
- Massage therapist on site
- Cabaret
- Raffle (Spot prizes are welcome!)
- and lots more
 
This promises to be a fun filled day for all the family. Come along to support this worthy cause if only for a while but the fun will 
be continuing throughout the night!
 
Our group can be found on Facebook by searching "Be Aware! Prevent Suicide" in the Facebook search tool. On this 
page people can become fans of the group and Donate to the cause. Alternatively if anybody would like to donate 
privately they can contact me. All donations will be hugely appreciated!

Below is the press release about the group that a number of newpapers within Kerry have donated space to run:
 
"We are a group of ordinary people in the Ballaugh, Lissivigeen area of Killarney, Co. Kerry who have come together 
to raise monies to fund a campaign to raise awareness on that very important issue SUICIDE which is now an epidemic 
in our society. We believe the vaccine for this epidemic is to get people TALKING and LISTENING. 
Initially it was our intention to give the funds we raise to existing charities/groups who are doing excellent work 
in this field. However through the research we have done to date, we notice that it is difficult for the ordinary 
person to access information on these charities/groups and how it is they can help a person to deal with a friend, 
relative or work colleague in a crisis situation.

Our ambition is to run information meetings using professionals involved in the area of suicide, suicide prevention 
and indeed suicide bereavement where these professionals can help us as a society to recognise the signs in a person 
who may be vulnerable and maybe having suicidal thoughts. And guide us as to the possible way that we might be able 
to intervene, and possible be able to prevent a suicide from taking place. We are holding a fundraising Day on June 
6th at Darby O Gills, starting at 3 pm. People have volunteered to have their heads shaved, hair vibrantly coloured 
or have beards/ moustache shaved or legs/chest waxed.

We are now calling on potential beard growers to start now and they will be judged on the day. We have three ladies 
who have volunteered to have their heads shaved- Deirdre Fee, Amanda Kelly and Marie Kelly so far...
The event will be a family fun day with bouncy castle and much more entertainment on the day. Any offers of help 
will be appreciated, and volunteers to participate in all of the activities and help raise funds for this worthwhile 
event.

Our intention is to also publish a leaflet that will be of help to somebody in a crisis situation. We will keep you 
informed as the weeks progress and we will be advertising the Suicide awareness talks."
