19:00 Microsoft Project 2010 - Patrick Herlihy, Microsoft


MS Project has become one of the most popular software application tools available today to help plan and schedule projects.  MS Project 2010, Microsoft's most recent version of MS Project is shortly due for release and provides additional functionality that builds on its planning and scheduling capabilities.  This session provides us with a unique opportunity to preview what the soon to be released software application can provide for project professionals to help plan projects more effectively. 

Patrick is a Partner Technical Advisor in Microsoft and has built up considerable experience over many years in the use and application of project management software within the Project Environment, across various sectors of business and industry, to the benefit of project professionals at all levels. 

 


20:00 Re-opening of Limerick to Galway rail line - Sinéad Clair B.E. (Civil) C.B.M. M.I.E.I., Irish Rail


The Limerick to Galway rail line was officially opened on 29 March 2010 by the Minister for Transport Noel Dempsey. The delivery of this project by Irish Rail under Transport 21 promotes balanced regional development, in line with National Spatial Strategy objectives. The project, managed internally by Iarnród Éireann, required careful planning and scheduling and delivered the following key objectives:

*	Reopening of the line between Ennis and Athenry. 
*	Construction of 4 new stations along the route. 
*	Bridge construction/repair works for passenger traffic. 
*	New colour light signalling and train radio systems. 
*	Replacement of multiple life expired level crossings 
*	Closure or upgrade of existing level crossings. 

Sinéad is a senior project manager with Iarnród Éireann. Following a number of years working with the Deutsche Bahn (German Railway Company) Sinéad has worked in the New Works Department of Iarnród Éireann for over 12 years and more recently on the delivery of Transport 21 projects. Involved in projects (both small and large) at all stages from conception, feasibility study, design and railway order through to construction. The Limerick-Galway line project with a budget of EUR106.5m is her latest project to be delivered.
