Adrian Guelke is Professor of Comparative Politics at QUB. His research
interests are principally on the politics of deeply divided societies, most
particularly the cases of <st1:country-region w:st="on">South Africa</st1:country-region>
and <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Northern Ireland</st1:place></st1:country-region>.
He is currently chair of the International Political Science
Association’s research committee on politics and ethnicity. Recent
