introduce his lecture with a brief word on the implications of the last two
years for planning and transport in <st1:country-region w:st="on"><st1:place
w:st="on">Ireland</st1:place></st1:country-region>. He will then discuss <st1:place
w:st="on"><st1:country-region w:st="on">Ireland</st1:country-region></st1:place>'s
planning system in detail and the likely impacts if current development
patterns persist. Trends in transport will also be analysed. Both the planning
and transport topics will be discussed against the backdrop of climate change,
and whether Irish policy is capable of delivering emissions reductions as it
currently stands.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
