font-weight:normal'>With great sadness, UL Eagles basketball team and
supporters are trying to come to terms with the sudden and tragic death of
Stuart Robbins. Stuart was the team’s big Welsh talisman, almost seven
feet tall and with a larger than life personality to match. He </span></font></b></strong>died
in his sleep on Sunday night, having spent the weekend coaching the college
side at the annual Intervarsity basketball tournament. A post-mortem is due to
be carried out today. His sudden death has caused shock and disbelief among the
Irish basketball community.<o:p></o:p></p>
<p><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:12.0pt'>Stuart
was in the later stage of a professional career which saw him play for clubs in
<st1:country-region w:st="on">Australia</st1:country-region>, <st1:country-region
w:st="on">Britain</st1:country-region> and <st1:place w:st="on">Europe</st1:place>.
He played several seasons for German club Bayern Munich before coming to UL
Eagles. Stuart was a really important unifying figure and leader in the club.
His great sense of fun made him popular with his teammates, with supporters and
especially with children. He coached in some <st1:place w:st="on">Limerick</st1:place>
schools and was well known in basketball circles nationally. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><font size=3 face="Times New Roman"><span style='font-size:
12.0pt'>Stuart will be sadly missed. We offer our deepest sympathies to his
parents, Des and Jayne, who have travelled here from <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:country-region
w:st="on">Wales</st1:country-region></st1:place>, and his sister Claire. There
will be a memorial service for Stuart here at UL. Details will follow tomorrow.</span></font><font
