temática que ofrecen, el grave problema de la violencia de género en España. En
ambas películas, se ponen de manifiesto dos puntos importantes que son tema de
nuestro análisis: en primer lugar, el difundido mito de la inmigración como
portadora del problema de la violencia de género en España; en segundo lugar,
los problemas que emanan de las relaciones estructurales de poder que
contribuyen a la continuidad de la violencia de género y que impiden el
desarrollo de los derechos humanos de las mujeres inmigrantes en el país.<o:p></o:p></span></font></p>

style='font-size:10.0pt;font-family:Arial'>The Franco regime glorified
motherhood and introduced pro-natalist policies while targeting Republican
mothers and interrupting their family lives. Nonetheless, the ideal of the
“combative mother” constructed by the Republican side during wartime
was manipulated by clandestine Republican groups to encourage women to aid the
postwar resistance. Some Republican women continued to identify with
“combative motherhood”, illustrating a firm political commitment. <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>Los Girasoles Ciegos </span></i>and <i><span
style='font-style:italic'>Silencio Roto</span></i> foreground the mother-child
relationship and the Republican domestic sphere, portraying a traditionally
silenced post-war experience. In these films, motherhood is a means of
subversion within the domestic sphere through the rejection of the Francoist
maternal ideal. Nevertheless, the films sometimes resort to traditional
maternal myths, ignoring the political commitment that “combative
motherhood” implies.<b><font color=black><span style='color:black;
font-weight:bold'><o:p></o:p></span></font></b></span></font></p>
