Kathleen Turner, will perform a range of Gospel songs commencing at 1.15 approx
this Thursday 22 April 2010 (tomorrow), in the new <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">IWAMD</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Building</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>.
This is the building on right hand side as you exit the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName
w:st="on">Living</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Bridge</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>
on the Clare side. You can also drive over via the larger bridge that
provides road access to the Student Villages on the Clare side. </span></font><font

10.0pt;font-family:Verdana'>Gospel is a powerful vocal tradition, intended to
inspire, uplift and engage both the audience and the singer. The UL Gospel
Choir embodies this intention in its performances, through a wide repertoire
that ranges from traditional and contemporary Gospel to other related genres
such as Blues, Soul and Funk. The choir is under the direction of Kathleen
Turner, a graduate of the <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:PlaceName w:st="on">Irish</st1:PlaceName>
<st1:PlaceName w:st="on">World</st1:PlaceName> <st1:PlaceType w:st="on">Academy</st1:PlaceType></st1:place>
and director of the city based Limerick Gospel Choir. Students from the B.A.
Programme in Voice and Dance will also perform at the concert. The choir
continues its long established affiliation with 'Hope and Homes for Children'
and performs two fund-raising concerts a year for the organisation. Donations
to Hope and Homes will be very gratefully received after tomorrow’s
concert. <o:p></o:p></span></font></p>
